VIDEO: Divine Mercy Sunday in the Philippines

Every year, thousands of devotees flock to the Divine Mercy Shrine in Divine Mercy Hills at El Salvador City, Misamis Oriental, Philippines to celebrate the Divine Mercy Sunday, also known as the Feast of the Divine Mercy.

Divine Mercy Sunday is celebrated on the Sunday after Easter. The feast day is observed by Roman Catholic as well as some Anglicans. It is originally based on the Catholic devotion to the Divine Mercy that Saint Faustina Kowalska reported as part of her encounter with Jesus, and is associated with special promises from Jesus and indulgences issued by the Church.

The Divine Mercy Sunday starts with a procession of the image of the Divine Mercy. Then followed by a dawn mass that commemorates the Feast of the Divine Mercy. Then devotees are looking at the ‘Dancing Sun’ after the dawn mass.
